The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a franchise-based Twenty20 cricket tournament organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)

First held in 2008, it quickly became the most lucrative cricket tournament in the world.

Where is the IPL being held?

The IPL is played across the home cities of various franchises in India. However, some teams may choose to split their home matches between two or more cities.

For the 2026 edition, the first 20 matches will be played across 10 venues.

The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, home ground of the popular Royal Challengers Bangalore, will host the opening match.

Other venues include Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, Barsapara Cricket Stadium, and more.
